ABSTRACT PHOTOGRAPHER ASTRID KREHAN RELEASES NEW BOOK, INFINITY∞

By Sophie Steiner, October 26, 2021

Born in Nuremberg, Germany, Astrid Krehan – a contemporary photographer – converts modern-day spaces and objects into highly saturated color images.

Her flowing series often verges on the abstract, whether capturing the tranquility of the rural countryside or the vibrant aura of major cities like Shanghai, where Astrid has lived and worked since 2014.

Astrid has recently launched a new book, Infinity ∞, as its symbol brings together the two worlds that form and influence her as an artist.

“Nature and adventure are my passions and source of inspiration in my abstract art photography, where I recreate what I visualize,” she explains.

“In the world of science, ∞ is the concept of something that is unlimited, endless or without bound. In the photographic world, ∞ represents the focal point beyond the lens capability.

“For me, ∞ stands for no limitation in how I can see and interpret the world.”

After displaying her work in her first exhibition, China’s Modern Pulse, Astrid has gone on to display her work around the city.

Her contemporary China series have been regularly exhibited in Shanghai since 2017, and featured at the 2018 and 2021 PHOTOFAIRS, Shanghai with Gallery 12 and ArtCN Gallery.

ArtCN gallery is pleased to launch Astrid’s first book on October 30 and 31. She will be present at the gallery both days from 3-5pm, meeting with visitors and sharing insights about her journey into abstract photography.
