Colors of Modern China

WorldUnion Investment Management (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. is delighted to present “COLORS OF MODERN CHINA” a contemporary photo exhibition of selected works by photographer Astrid Krehan from her series “CHINA’S MODERN PULSE” and “CHINA IN COLOR”.

This collection of highly-saturated color images explores the unique lights and textures that have caught Astrid’s eye during her travels through Asia and in particular China.

这组高饱和度的彩色影像将带我们探索在Astrid旅行亚洲(尤其是中国）期间吸引她驻足的那些绝妙光线和纹理。

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Born in Nuremberg, Germany, Astrid Krehan’s original works convert modern-day spaces and objects into highly saturated color images. Her fluid series often verges on the abstract, whether capturing the tranquillity of rural China or the vibrant aura of Shanghai, where Astrid has lived and worked since 2014. Astrid studied with renowned photojournalist Scott Davis, travelling to remote destinations to hone her skills and subsequently refining her own visual and conceptual vocabulary, which emerges through her play with light and texture using only her camera. Astrid’s photographs reveal a compassionate understanding of the living world. Selections of her contemporary China series have been exhibited in 2017 and 2018 in Shanghai as solo exhibits and during the 2018 Shanghai Photofair.

Astrid Krehan出生于德国纽伦堡，她的原创作品将现代空间和物体转化为高色彩饱和度的影像。在这一系列作品中，无论是中国乡村的宁静，还是Astrid所熟悉的魔都上海的活力气息都被镜头以近乎抽象艺术的光影流转呈现出来。 Astrid师从著名摄影记者 Scott Davis，曾跋山涉水，不远万里磨砺摄影技能，随后形成并完善了她自己的视觉概念语汇，这些语汇在一次次相机与光线、纹理的游戏中得到流畅的表达。Astrid的摄影作品流露出对这个世界丰富深刻的感知与热爱。她的当代中国系列精选作品已分别于2017年和2018年上海个人展以及2018年“影像上海”期间展出。

Proceeds of the entire event will go to Shanghai Sunrise, a charity that supports vulnerable young people in Shanghai and has been Astrid’s passion since she arrived in Shanghai.

整个活动的收益将捐给上海初阳，这是一个支持上海弱势贫困学生的慈善机构，也是Astrid到上海后，一直以来的热情所在。
